Check with your local grocery stores, they will often hire 14-15 year olds to assist customers carrying out the groceries to their cars. (Publix Supermarkets is a good example of this)

Good places for Year 10 work experience in Birmingham?
I'm doing work experience in July 2011 and I can't think of anywhere to go (that haven't already rejected me...) so any ideas? I live in Sutton Coldfield, and I would be willing to work in the West Midlands area. My interests are: Animals. Writing. History. Historical Landmarks. Science (to a certain extent...okay, not too much, but I'm keeping my options open). Books. Tourist Attractions. Retail Hospitality (like Restaurants, I guess) Childcare The careers I’m interested in are: Author Journalist Teacher Film Critic Makeup Artist (Random list, but I like all of them) p.s. I think a lot of places don’t take you until you’re 16/18 + I've already asked... Hi, I'm a 14 year old student currently studying at secondary school. I desperately need work experience within Birmingham. I need suggestions. Somewhere recognized and academic would be preferable. I've already tried many hospitals in Birmingham and unfortunately they all are fully booked. Any suggestions or ideas? Many thanks

This depends on what sort of work you want to gain experience in. You say you've tried all of the hospitals, but there is a wide range of occupations in the medical services, so it's hard to tell from that what you're after. Shops are usually good for work experience, and you could look at shops that sell products that you might want to work with, for example if you are interested in music, you could look at a shop that sells either CDs or one that sells musical instruments. If you want to go into the building trade, then you could look at merchants that supply builders, look at the shops in your locality, and see if there are any there that might be connected with a career that you are interested in, and see if they can help you. I think you're best bet is to actually go in to the shop with a letter of introduction, stating you would like to do your experience with them, You will be far more respected by the manager for going in to see him/ her personally. If you get off on a good start with them, you may even bag yourself a job with them after your experience is over!! I have worked in a number of the shops in the bullring and work there now currently, so id like to think I know what im on about! ;) good luck

I bet you are. Quite a lot of firms who have taken on students for work experience find that they have to devote either all their time or that of another employee for the week and it is less than cost effective for them so do not do it a second time. I know that the firm I worked for did it - once. Many firms have areas which could be potentially dangerous, so it is usually offices and shops where you might get some one to accept you.

I went to Waterstones (the bookshop) and I had an amazing time. My friend went to graphic designer and another to an architects. :) Ask your school to give you some contacts. :) Good luck and have fun!

gosh people are so dumb nowadays, its a bit obvious that shes in year 11 at school and wanting to do her work experience placement at some sort of photography studio or something. anyway i would proberly look for being a photography assistent, which is basicaly setting up equipment and stuff, but its great as you get taught so many things. i would proberly look at mandy.com and look through looking for assistant photographers (your not going to be getting offers which are better than this) hope i helped.

Animal work experience in birmingham?
I've started an animal care course and need to get a work placement for one day a week for the year, I don't really know where to start or who takes on work experience students, I know the nature centre does but it's already been filled I thinkk. Does anybody have any suggestions? thankss :)

Try contacting the Vets close to where you are living and spread out gradually. The other possibility, although some distance from Brum, is the West Midland Safari Park twixt Kidderminster and Bewdley (closer to Kidder which is around 18 miles from Birmingham) The travelling isn't too bad - I had to do that trip daily for several months. Just had another thought - how about Animal Rescue Centres, like Blue Cross (there is certainly one in Bromsgrove) or the PDSA on the A456 between Halesowen and Edgbaston. Dudley Zoo - more travelling, but a possibility, perhaps?

i go to samford university and on the weekends, sometimes only saturday or sunday, some AT&T phones, including my original iPhone will not receive calls, text messages, voice mails and internet access. We can call other people, and sometime while on the line with someone else we can receive all the texts we didn't get. This is incredibly frustrating, and it needs to stop. iPhone 3g's work fine, its just some other AT&T phones and the iPhone original.

You can have some income and some assets and still qualify for help -- each program has different rules. The website below has some great information about the programs in your state and even links to an application. It looks like your local office is at 486 Palisades Blvd in Birmingham. Phone: 1-800-362-1504. Ask to speak to a worker. If you can't get a person on the phone, file an application they are required to speak with you about any programs they may have available. This may mean they will just send you an appointment time and you have to show up. The important thing is to make contact if the appointment doesn't work for you.
